Rant: My sister's 'treat yourself' logic undid 5 months of grocery budgeting

Last week at the Kroger on 5th Street, my sister watched me put back a $6 jar of pasta sauce and said, 'You're not poor, just buy it.' I explained that I'd been keeping our family food bill under $400 a month, and she laughed and bought me the jar anyway, then told me to 'live a little.' Has anyone else had a close relative sabotage their budget because they think small splurges don't matter?

Ever tried telling her she can "gift" you the pasta sauce but not the habit? Some folks just don't see that $6 jars stack up fast, especially when they're not the ones watching the register.
