Paper bills used to force budgeting talks in my family

I was thinking about this over the weekend. When I was a kid, the phone bill or the electric bill would come in the mail. My parents would open it at the table and talk about it right there. It was a regular check on spending. Now with auto-pay, that whole talk is gone. Nobody in my house even sees the numbers most months. I wonder if that quiet switch makes it easier to forget what stuff really costs.

Yikes, auto-draft means I don't even know my own bills anymore.

Come on, it's not like your money just vanishes. Even @the_abby's card getting declined sends a notification.

Auto-draft reminds me of when my card got declined.
