My dad's yearly reminder: 52 coffees at $4.75 adds up to $247, and he keeps asking me where mine went
My dad sat me down at his kitchen table in Toledo on Sunday and pulled out a little notebook where he tracks his coffee runs. He told me he switched to a $22 Mr. Coffee pot at home and banked $247 in 2025, money he moved into a savings account he calls his fishing fund. I always rolled my eyes at the latte math thing, but seeing it written down in his handwriting hit different. I did my own math on the way home and I was spending about $130 a month on takeout coffee and gas station snacks near my office. Now I pack a thermos and a granola bar and there's roughly $90 left over every month. Has anyone else actually tracked the small stuff like this, and did the number surprise you as much as mine did?
