My dad told me to track every single coffee for a month and I thought he was nuts

He said to just write down each one, no budget change needed. I did it last month and it added up to $87. I was honestly shocked because I never felt like I was spending that much. Has anyone else tried just tracking a small habit before trying to cut it?

I get what you mean about the shock, lunaw72, but tracking my own spending made me see things the other way. For me, it showed how much I was actually saving by not eating out every single day. Sometimes seeing the total number is scary, but it helps me make better choices next week. Don't you find it gets easier to plan once you know where your money is really going?
