My "cheat week" on groceries actually saved me $40 go figure
Last month I decided to try one of those bulk meal prep services for a single week, even though I always laugh at the cost. I figured it would be a total disaster for my budget, but I was curious how much I normally spend on random trips to the store. The box was $65 for 5 dinners, which felt insane compared to my usual $30 weekly produce run. But here's the part that got me: I didn't buy any snacks, no mid-week fast food runs, and zero impulse buys at checkout. By Friday I had only spent $89 total for the whole week including breakfast and lunch stuff. That's actually $40 less than my average week where I wander around H-E-B grabbing stuff I don't need. Has anyone else found that a strict pre-planned system saves more than you expect, even if the initial cost looks bigger?

The H-E-B impulse buy trap is real lol. I swear I walk in for milk and eggs and somehow leave with a new candle and some fancy pickles I'll never eat. That $65 box sounds wild but honestly $89 for a full week is pretty impressive when you think about it. My "normal" grocery trips usually involve me buying a rotisserie chicken "for salads" then eating it in the car on the way home. Maybe I need to try this whole prep thing just to stop myself from buying random bags of chips at 9pm.
