Finally tried the envelope system after my card got declined at the grocery store

Honestly, I was just swiping for everything and had no clue where my money went. I switched to cash envelopes for groceries and gas last week, and I've already got $60 left in the food envelope. Has anyone else had a category that just vanished when you used cash?

Cash is a pain though, right? You have to go to the ATM, carry it around, and what if you lose an envelope? My card getting declined once would just be a wake-up call to check my app more often. Swapping to all cash feels like going back to the stone age over one mistake.
