The one mistake I see with bedding in new pads
I noticed at the last track day a bunch of guys were just doing a few hard stops and calling it done with their new pads. But that leaves uneven transfer layers and you get pulsing after just a few sessions. Anyone else old school and still do the 30-30-30 method from a roll?

Call me lazy but I've been doing the "hard stops from 60 until they smell" method for years and never had pulsing issues. Maybe people are just bedding them in wrong or getting bad pads.

So you're saying you slam the brakes from 60 until you smell them and that's worked for you? I've tried that method on a few different sets of pads and ended up with weird deposits on the rotors every single time. Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but when I followed the manufacturer's specific bed-in procedure with a series of gradual slows and a proper cooldown, the stopping power was way more consistent and no pulsing at all. It might feel fine at first, but that heat-soaking can leave uneven material transfer that shows up later with vibration. Just seems like throwing heat at them without any controlled cool-off is asking for trouble, even if you've been lucky so far.
