The kid at the counter told me I was bleeding my brakes wrong for years

Went to O'Reilly's last Saturday to grab fluid and this 19 year old kid working there asked if I was bench bleeding the master cylinder first. I've been doing it the old way my dad taught me since 2006 and honestly his method took half the time. Has anyone else had some young mechanic completely flip their routine?

Had an old timer's trick backfire on me too. That bench bleeding method takes a few extra minutes but it's saved me from chasing air bubbles down the road. Kinda annoying having a kid teach me something, but it worked.

Jump into bench bleeding even if it feels like overkill at first. I've had that exact moment where skipping it cost me half a day chasing spongy pedal feel. Takes ten minutes now versus an hour later, easy choice.
