That moment when I figured out I'd been pumping the brake pedal wrong my whole life
Two schools of thought at the shop: pump the pedal slow and steady before bleeding, or hold pressure and crack the bleeder in one go. I'd always pumped like I was mad at it until my buddy pointed out I was just aerating the fluid on my 2004 Ranger. What's the correct way to do this without needing a vacuum bleeder?
My buddy Dale did the same thing on his 98 Silverado last summer, stomped the pedal like 20 times fast and pushed a bunch of air bubbles right into the lines. His pedal felt like a sponge after and he had to start over twice. What worked was him pumping slow while I held the pedal down and cracked the bleeder for a second, then closed it before he let up. Took maybe 15 minutes a wheel but the pedal was rock hard after.
