Customer said my bedding squeaked, so I finally rebuilt the rear calipers
I run a small cleaning service and one of my clients mentioned their garage smelled like burnt metal every time I parked my van. That got me thinking, so I crawled under there and found the rear pads down to basically nothing on the inside, even though the outside looked fine. A friend who used to turn wrenches told me it was a stuck slider pin, not the pads themselves. I pulled the calipers apart, cleaned out all the dried up grease, and replaced the pins and boots for like $28 total. Now the brakes grab evenly and the squeak is gone, plus I actually trust the thing on hills again. Has anyone else found that customers notice stuff like weird noises before you do, just because they're around the vehicle more than you are?

$28 for both rear calipers rebuilt is wild, I paid more than that for one set of boots.
