I worked at a shop in Boise for 3 years and we just grabbed whatever tub of grease was closest, didn't think it mattered much. I mean, it's just bearings right? But a guy I trained under kept saying the cheap stuff breaks down and washes out after 6 months of wet rides. So now I use a real marine grade bearing grease and I've gone from maybe 4 comebacks a season to basically none. But part of me wonders if the cheap stuff would've been fine if I just packed them tighter. Is the grease actually doing the work or is it me just being more careful now?
