Rant: Tried a new carbon paste on a seatpost and it just... vanished.
So last week I was working on a high-end carbon road bike, a customer's pride and joy. The seatpost was slipping a tiny bit, so I figured I'd try this new 'ultra-grip' carbon assembly paste a rep gave me at a show. It was supposed to be the best thing ever. I put a thin, even coat on the post, slid it in, torqued it to spec, and sent the bike out. The customer brought it back two days later saying the slipping was worse, not better. When I pulled the post... the paste was gone. Not worn, just gone, like it turned to dust and blew away. I've never seen anything like it in ten years. The seat tube was just dry carbon with some fine grit at the bottom. I had to clean everything and use my usual, boring, reliable brand. Has anyone else had a fancy new product just completely fail like that? What's your go-to paste that never lets you down?

Ugh, that's wild. Had a tube of some "pro" paste do the same thing, just turned into useless powder. Switched to Park Tool's stuff years ago and it's boring but perfect. Never had a slip, even on the really stubborn frames.

Man, that's rough. I stick with Finish Line's paste, it's never pulled a disappearing act on me.
