Heard a loud pop on a test ride last week and found a cracked head tube

I was checking out a used bike at a shop in Denver and took it around the block. When I hit a small bump, there was this sharp crack noise from the front end. Turned out the head tube had a hairline fracture near the bottom bracket shell, get a good light and really inspect those weld joints before you roll anything out the door. Has anyone else run into frame failures that looked fine at first glance?

Gotta say man, that's a rough way to find out a bike's toast. Really sorry you had to deal with that, especially on a test ride where you're just trying to get a feel for it.
