Had a customer insist his brake rub was "just cable tension" last spring

Guy rolls in with a disc brake that's been rubbing for weeks. He's convinced it's a simple cable adjustment. I spin the wheel and it's rubbing in one spot only, so I show him the rotor is visibly bent. He argued with me for 5 minutes before I grabbed a truing fork and straightened it right in front of him. The look on his face was priceless. Anyone else deal with customers who think they know the problem before you even look at the bike?

Three out of five people I meet will argue with a fact right in front of them before they admit they were wrong. It is like everyone thinks their own gut feeling is more reliable than actual proof these days. People just hate being wrong more than they want to fix the real problem.
