Finally got a stuck seatpost out of a 1980s Peugeot frame
It was in there for maybe 30 years. Tried the ammonia trick for a full day, no luck. Ended up using a big bench vise and a long pipe for leverage. The pop when it let go was so loud. Anyone know a better way to stop this on old steel frames?

Wait, you used ammonia for a full day? That stuff is no joke to be messing with. I'm honestly shocked you didn't just melt the whole frame. I guess the vise was the only thing tough enough for a job like that.
