Customer handed me a bike he built from a ceiling fan motor
Last Thursday a guy rolled into my shop in Austin with a frame held together by hose clamps and a motor he swore came from a 1980s ceiling fan, asking if I could true the wheels he'd made from tricycle rims. He got frustrated when I said no and started explaining how the fan motor had better torque than any Shimano hub I'd ever touched, then offered me $20 cash to test ride it down the street. Has anyone else had a homebrew build that was so bad you almost respected the effort, or did I miss a real opportunity here?
