Customer didn't believe me until I let him watch the derailleur fail live

Had a guy in the shop last Tuesday swear his shifting problem was the new cassette I sold him. I checked the cable tension, checked the hanger alignment, everything looked fine on the stand. So I put it on the trainer with a wheel sensor and let him shift through the gears himself. Third shift up, the old shifter slipped twice and he saw the chain skip before I touched anything. He went quiet, asked what a new shifter costs, and paid for it on the spot. Anyone else have luck using real-world tests to shut down the blame game?

The "shifter slipped twice" thing got me. It's like when people blame the new part but the old piece was dying the whole time. I swear most folks just need to see proof with their own eyes before they'll trust anything. It's the same with my car, my AC, everything. People don't trust words anymore, they need a live demo.
