Showerthought: I just hit 1,000 hours on my offset smoker

It's a cheap Oklahoma Joe's model I got three years ago, and it finally feels like the fire just does what I tell it now. Anyone else have a piece of gear that just clicked after a crazy amount of use?

I don't really get the "extension of your arm" thing though. I had the same offset for about five years and I was always fighting that thing. The heat spots never evened out and the firebox door never sealed right no matter how many gaskets I threw at it. Maybe some gear just fights you forever and that's okay, it still makes good food.

My buddy's old Craftsman drill finally gave up after like 15 years. He said the trigger had worn down to a perfect groove for his finger and it just felt like an extension of his arm. He was genuinely sad to toss it.

Oh man, my drill and I haven't even reached the awkward first date stage yet.
