Found out my grandpa's old smoker was a $40 hardware store special
Went through my old man's garage last month and dug out his 1980s offset smoker. I assumed it was some fancy pit from back in the day, but the rusted badge says it came from a True Value in Tulsa for $40. That thing turned out some of the best brisket I ever ate, and I've dropped $600 on rigs that can't touch it. Makes you wonder if the gear matters or if it's all in how you tend the fire, you know? Anyone else find a beat-up hand-me-down that outperformed their expensive stuff?
