Ugh, this stuff makes me SO mad. It's the same trick everywhere, they set the bar so high that nobody can ever clear it, then act like YOU failed. Rental cars do it, hotels do it, my gym charged me a "deep clean fee" for a locker I wiped down myself. The whole game is keeping your money and making you feel like a slob for asking for it back. A security deposit is supposed to be for real damage, not for whatever mood the landlord is in that day.
