Am I the only one who lost $180 to a meal kit I never cooked?
So about four months ago I signed up for one of those meal kit boxes after seeing a promo for like 60 percent off the first week. Sounded like a great way to swap my terrible fast food dinners for home cooking, and I told myself it would fix my eating in one move. Here is what actually happened: I paid around $180 over six weeks across about five boxes before I finally canceled, and I cooked maybe two of the meals. The rest sat in the fridge until the greens turned to slime and I had to toss it all in a trash bag on a Tuesday night. The real bad habit I was swapping here was not junk food at all, it was buying solutions instead of doing the work, and the boxes made that habit worse because I got to feel proud without lifting a pan. What finally worked was boring and free: I picked three cheap dinners I already knew how to make, wrote them on a sticky note on the fridge, and started a Sunday check on what was about to spoil. I have kept that going for two months now and my grocery bill actually dropped. Does anyone have a checklist or app that keeps you from buying food you end up throwing out?
