Swapped my 2AM doomscroll for a 5AM stretch and my back hates me less
About 4 months back I was lying in bed at 2 in the morning just scrolling through videos of people fixing drywall, zero reason to be awake. My neck and shoulders were shot from work, but I kept telling myself I needed the wind-down time. Then my wife pointed out I was more tired than before I picked up my phone, so I tried switching that 45 minute scroll for a quick stretch on the floor next to the bed. First 3 tries were rough, I fell asleep mid hamstring stretch twice, but now I do like 10 minutes of basic moves I found on a physical therapy site. My crew noticed I stop complaining about my lower back by noon, which is a win. I still mess up some nights, especially after a big job, but the tired feeling is different now, more like actual rest. Has anyone else traded a phone habit for something physical and found it way harder than they expected at first?
