My deck stairs are 1.5 inches off and I dont know how it got this bad
Tbh I built these stairs last summer off a 30 dollar stringer template from the big box store. After a few months the bottom step started feeling loose, so I crawled under there and realized the whole stringer is sitting on a pressure treated 2x4 that I never anchored to concrete. Three years ago I framed a shed floor with the same sort of short cut and it never moved, so I figured this was fine. Anyone else had steps shift this much from just frost heave, or did I skip something obvious with the footing? I'm waiting on a quote to have a guy redo it, but I'm curious if I can just shim the low side.
