Threw $400 at a 'diagnostic scanner' that was basically a paperweight

I bought this fancy Bluetooth OBD2 scanner last month thinking it would save me time on engine codes. Cost me $400 after I saw some influencer hype it up on YouTube. Turns out it couldn't even read ABS codes on a 2012 Ford Focus I was working on. I spent three hours messing with the app, resetting my phone, and watching tutorials before I gave up. My old $80 scan tool caught the problem in five minutes flat. Now that expensive thing sits in my drawer collecting dust. Anyone else get burned by a pricey tool that just didn't deliver?

@logan_thomas87 you're totally right about that. Used to think the expensive stuff was always better but this taught me the hard way. Lesson learned, gonna stick with what actually works from now on.

Bro do you even research before you buy? lol. I swear half those influencer scanners are just cheap rebranded stuff with a fancy app slapped on top. $400 is brutal for a paperweight though, I'd be pissed. The real kicker is that cheapo $80 unit did the job. Mainstream brands like Autel or Launch have the proper coverage but they cost big money for a reason. Next time skip the YouTube hype and check the forums first, that's where the real info is. Live and learn I guess but damn that stings.
