The week I had three cars with the same weird electrical gremlin
In my experience, you get a run of the same job sometimes, but last week was wild. I had a 2012 Civic, a 2015 Fusion, and a 2018 Equinox all come in with the same thing: random dash lights and a rough idle, but no stored codes. It took me a full day on the first one to trace it back to a bad ground strap on the engine block, corroded right where it bolts on. The other two had the exact same issue in almost the same spot. I guess with all the road salt we had this winter, it's just eating through those straps. I ended up replacing all three with a heavier gauge part I keep on the shelf now. Has anyone else seen a spike in weird electrical faults from bad grounds lately, or is it just my shop?

Did you check the actual ground studs on the block or just the strap? I've seen the stud itself get so eaten up it won't hold a new strap tight. Had to chase the threads on one last month.

Yeah, I read something about road salt and ground straps causing weird issues.
