The torque wrench I trusted for a decade was off by 25%

Found out last Tuesday when a hub nut came loose on a customer's F-150 at my shop in Tulsa. I'd been using the same beam style torque wrench since 2014, figured it was fine because it felt right. The guy came back with a grinding noise, and when I checked the nut with a borrowed digital unit, it clicked at 68 ft-lbs instead of the 90 I thought I was setting. That whole time I was teaching my nephew the trade with that thing. Now I check every wrench against a calibration rig at the start of each month, costs me 40 bucks a visit but beats a comeback. Anyone else run a setup that long before realizing it was lying to you?
