Snapped a bolt off in a Ford F-150's exhaust manifold last Tuesday

Was doing a simple manifold gasket swap on a 2014 model and the third bolt just sheared clean. Had to drill it out and use an extractor, which took like two extra hours. Anyone got a better method for dealing with stuck exhaust bolts on these trucks, or is it just always a gamble?

My buddy's trick is soaking them in penetrating oil overnight, does that actually work?

Only if your buddy also likes oily floors and a weird smell for a week.
