Saw a 20 year tech use a $12 compression tester on a no start and I almost laughed
This guy rolled into the shop in Tulsa last week with a 2011 Silverado that cranked all day but would not fire, and our lead tech skipped the scan tool and went straight for a cheap compression tester I figured was junk. Two cylinders came back at 60 psi and the rest near 150, so he pulled the valve cover and found a wiped cam lobe, which the codes never would have shown me. How many of you still grab a gauge before you trust what the computer says?
