PSA: I used to hate working on trucks with new tech, but a job last month flipped my view
I always avoided newer trucks with all the sensors and computer stuff, thinking it was just extra hassle. Then I had to fix a friend's F-150 with a lane assist fault, and the manual walk-through online made it simple. Seeing how the system talks to the phone app for codes changed my whole approach. Now I look for those jobs because they pay well and folks around here need help with them. The culture is shifting where even old school guys are learning this tech to stay busy. It convinced me that adapting is better than sticking to what you know.

But is it really a big shift or just another tool? Good wrenches still fix most problems without all the extra steps.

Totally get that shift! I started watching repair videos for specific models on YouTube, like for Ford's Co-Pilot360. Taking a phone picture of the sensor layout before you disconnect anything saves a major headache later. Those backup sensor calibrations are a great place to begin, way less scary than the steering stuff. It gets easier fast once you do a couple.
