Hot take: a guy at the shop down the street told me I was setting my lift arms wrong and it fixed my back
I was at Al's shop over on 5th helping him with a clutch job two weeks ago and he watched me raise a Civic and said 'you're reaching too far, pull the arms in first.' I had been doing it my way for 11 years, arms all the way out, thinking it was faster. He showed me how pulling the pads in tight before it goes up cuts the reach time and keeps me from hunching over, and my lower back stopped hurting after about 4 days. Now I do it every single time, even on trucks. Anybody else get corrected on something basic like that after years of doing it the other way?
