Had a customer's alternator bolt shear off flush in the block on a 2015 Silverado

It happened yesterday afternoon when I was doing a routine replacement, and the lower bolt just snapped with a loud pop. I ended up having to drill it out and use an extractor, which added about two hours to the job. What's your go-to method for dealing with sheared bolts in tight engine bays?

Man that's the worst sound, isn't it? Drilling and extracting is usually my first move too, though it's never fun. Hope the rest of the job went smooth after that.

You're right about that sound, @noahhall (it's like nails on a chalkboard for me). I always wonder if the neighbors think I'm building a deck or something.
