Actually got a Volvo V70 timing job right on the first try today
Been turning wrenches for about 5 years now. Mostly domestic stuff. A buddy's 2007 V70 with the 2.5T came in this morning. I've read horror stories about those interference engines. Mess up the timing and you're buying a new head. Took my time. Marked everything with a paint pen. Double checked the cam locks three times. Fired it up and it purred. No weird noises. No CEL. Just a smooth idle. Felt good. Customer even said it drove better than before. Anyone else have a Volvo job that you were nervous about going in?

That 2.5T is a nerve wracking engine no doubt. I did one on a 2004 S60 a couple years back and the thing that saved me was taking cell phone pics of every single step before I removed anything. I'm talking belt routing, sprocket alignment, the tensioner position, everything. Having those photos to reference when I second guessed myself was huge. Also I learned the hard way to always use a new tensioner and not just the belt. Did you go with the OEM crank tool or did you rig something up?
