A guy at the parts counter in Spokane told me 'the computer says it fits' and cost me 3 hours.

Last month I spent a solid 45 minutes trying to jam a brake line into a caliper because the computer said they were a match. Turns out the computer and I were both wrong, and the caliper was for a different model year. I felt like that guy trying to fit a square peg in a round hole, except the peg was my patience and the hole was the scrap pile. At least you got three hours of character building out of it, I just got a busted knuckle and a new appreciation for actually holding parts up before buying. My wife likes to say I have a gift for turning a 15 minute job into an all day event, and she's not wrong.

Oh man, that's the worst. I've learned the hard way to never fully trust the "computer says it fits" line. It feels like they just want to make the sale and then you're stuck doing the real work. Three hours of your life gone because someone wouldn't double check. That kind of thing just kills my whole day.

My computer's fit check saved me two hours last week.
