Pro tip: Stop using fabric softener on your microfiber cloths
I was a house cleaner for 6 years and always used fabric softener thinking it made my rags smell nice. Then last month a client pointed out her windows were streaky even after I buffed them. She asked if I used softener and I said yeah, she told me the wax clogs the fibers. I switched to just hot water and vinegar and now my mirrors look perfect. Anyone else ruin their own supplies for years without realizing it?

Nah man, I actually get better results washing my microfibers with a little detergent and no vinegar.

The vinegar trick is a total game changer, I learned that the hard way too. Fabric softener leaves a waxy coating that basically seals the fibers shut so they can't pick up dust or water properly. I ruined a whole set of nice microfiber cloths before someone told me to just wash them in hot water with a splash of white vinegar and skip the dryer sheets entirely. Now I keep a separate set for glass and mirrors that never touches any softener at all, they stay fluffy and streak free for months. It feels wasteful to toss the old ones but you can demote them to general dusting where streaks don't matter as much.
