I picked the 'wrong' answer on a big test and it worked out fine

On my contractor's license exam last year, question 27 was about setback rules for a fence. The book said one thing, but I've seen the city inspectors let it slide if you talk to the neighbors first. I went with my real world gut, not the book answer. I passed anyway, and that question didn't sink me. Has anyone else had a test where the 'right' answer felt totally wrong for the job?

Let it slide" is a dangerous gamble on a license test.

Just treat every question like it's a trick. They're testing if you know the safest choice, not the most common one.
