Hot take: my worst morning ever turned out to be a blessing in disguise
Last Wednesday I woke up to a flooded bathroom from a burst pipe at 5am. Called around and every plumber wanted $400 just to show up. Ended up fixing it myself with a $12 wrench and some YouTube videos after 3 hours of messing up. The kicker is my work laptop got water damage and I had to use a 10 year old backup for a week. That old laptop made me realize how much extra junk I was doing on my daily tasks. Has anyone else had a disaster that actually helped you in the long run?

Did that old laptop change how you work for good or just temporary?

Oh man, I gotta tell you about my buddy Dave. He picked up this ancient ThinkPad at a garage sale for like 20 bucks, you know the kind with the peeling rubber coating. He swore it would be his "slow down and focus" machine for writing, no distractions. Well, he used it for a solid month, wrote half a novel on it actually, then his main laptop broke and he never touched the old one again. So yeah, totally temporary, but he still talks about it like it was some kind of magical productivity tool.
