Had to choose between a gas range and induction when I redid my kitchen in Portland last fall
I was stuck between keeping gas for the flame control or switching to induction for safety and efficiency. I went with induction and after 6 months I love how fast it boils water and how easy it is to clean. Anyone else made this switch and miss their gas burners?

That's exactly it with technology in general. Like how we all hated losing physical buttons on phones, but then swipe typing just becomes muscle memory and you can't go back. Same with cars and backup cameras, or even something as simple as LED lights over old bulbs. There's this weird phase where the old way feels more "real" or whatever, but once you're past it the new way just makes more sense for how you actually live day to day.

and honestly that's kind of how it goes with a lot of stuff these days, right? like once you get used to the new thing the old thing just feels clunky. i noticed that with my phone too, hated switching from the headphone jack but now i don't even think about it. same with cars, people swear by manual transmission but then they get a good automatic and never look back. induction is just one of those things where the benefits outweigh the nostalgia once you actually live with it for a bit.
