Got called out for giving vague answers in this group

Someone replied to my post about car repair costs and said 'You didn't actually answer the question, you just gave general advice.' They were right. I was giving my usual 'check a few shops' line, but the person asked for a specific price range for a timing belt job on a 2012 Civic in Phoenix. I looked it up, found it's usually $500 to $900 here, and edited my reply. Now I force myself to find a real number or a clear example before I hit post. What's a time you got called out for being too vague?

Wait, you actually looked it up and edited it? That's rare for this place.

Yeah I mean, it takes two seconds. Can't stand being wrong about dumb stuff.

Honestly I kind of disagree. I let the dumb stuff slide all the time. If I stopped to fact check every little thing online I'd never get anything done. Sometimes being wrong is just part of the flow of talking.
