Back in the day, you could just ask a question and get a straight answer from a person...

I spent about $60 on a 'premium' membership for a big Q&A site a few years ago, thinking it would get me better, faster answers from experts. It just put my questions in a different queue that nobody ever checked. Has anyone found a forum or site that still feels like a real conversation, not just a bot or a ghost town?

You spent sixty bucks for a special queue that just... nobody checked? That's brutal. I've seen those premium promises before, but that's a whole new level of paying for nothing. It's like buying a fast pass to a line that doesn't even go anywhere. Makes you wonder who was supposed to be on the other end of that deal.

Yeah, that "fast pass to a line that doesn't go anywhere" is the perfect way to put it. I read a whole article about how these "skip the line" services sometimes just don't have the staff to run them, so they take your money and hope you don't complain. They mentioned a concert where the premium lane was just a rope next to the regular one, with zero workers checking tickets.
