A warning about how I used to ask for help online

For years, I would post a question in a forum with a title like 'Help needed' and a vague body. Last month, I asked about fixing a garage door opener and got zero replies. A user named 'Mike_Fixit' finally messaged me saying, 'We need the model number and what it's actually doing.' I changed my method: now I always start my post title with the exact problem, like 'Genie Model 1024 chain drive grinds but won't move.' I include the model, the exact sound or error, and what I've already checked. The difference in getting real, useful answers is night and day. How do you all make sure your questions get answered?

You waited years before someone finally told you to be specific?

I saw a study last year where 40% of feedback at work was too vague to act on. It reminds me of teachers who just write "good job" on an essay. Without the specific detail of what worked, you're just guessing how to repeat it.
