Warning: The "Dub vs Sub" rabbit hole cost me 4 hours last night

I clicked one video defending English dubs and ended up in a 47-comment argument about lip flap timing (you know, where the mouth moves don't match the words). Had to set a phone alarm to actually go to bed at 2 AM. Anyone else fall into these pointless anime debates way too deep?

Oh man, the "lip flap timing" thing got me too. I spent probably an hour just watching comparison clips of One Piece where Luffy's mouth is flapping like a fish out of water while the English voice is still catching up. It's like... I get that dubs are just trying to match the vibe, but my brain won't let it go now. I ended up down a whole thread where people were debating if the Japanese voice actors actually sound more emotional or if it's just because I can't understand them. Set a timer for 10 minutes and woke up at 3 AM still scrolling.

That "debating if the Japanese voice actors actually sound more emotional or if it's just because I can't understand them" part hit me hard, I've wasted so many nights reading those threads. Same thing happened to me with DBZ, I was going back and forth on YouTube comparing Goku's screams and convinced myself the sub sounded better just because it was foreign.
