The guy at the anime club screening in Dayton kept pausing to explain the plot to his friend, and I finally snapped
I was at a Saturday afternoon screening of Akira at a small club in Dayton back in March, maybe 15 people in the room, and this one guy kept hitting pause every 5 minutes to recap what just happened for his buddy who clearly was not paying attention. Around the 40 minute mark he paused during the bike slide scene, and I looked over and he was explaining the whole psychic kid thing like it was a lecture. I leaned over and said we all paid 5 bucks and drove here, so can we please watch the movie. He got quiet after that but the damage was done, the vibe in the room was dead for the rest of the runtime. Has anyone else run into the pause and explain guy at a group watch, and how did you handle it?
