Sub vs Dub - Is the quality gap actually shrinking or am I just getting old?

I grew up on DBZ and Naruto dubs, swore by them. But last year I tried AOT subbed and it felt way more intense. My buddy says modern dubs are just as good now, like with Spy x Family or Demon Slayer. I rewatched Cowboy Bebop in both and honestly the dub still holds up better for me. But newer stuff like Jujutsu Kaisen, I went sub and never looked back. Curious if anyone else feels like the old arguments about lip flaps and emotion still apply, or if we've moved past it. What's your take - are you strictly one side or do you switch based on the show?

You been drinkin' before noon or is this just how you overthink anime? Old dubs were trash, new dubs are decent, but subs still hit harder when the screams matter.
