Spent $150 on a Crunchyroll premium subscription and the player still buffers like crazy during the new season drops
I paid for the highest tier to avoid ads and get 1080p, but last Thursday during the Jujutsu Kaisen episode it froze every 3 minutes and I ended up watching on a pirated site anyway, has anyone else had better luck with HiDive or should I just save my cash?

Honestly, I used to be one of those people who said 'just pay for the subscription, it supports the industry' but after dealing with the same crap on Crunchyroll during Chainsaw Man last year I totally get why you went to a pirate site. I had the premium plan too and the buffering was so bad on Saturday nights that I switched to HiDive for a few months and it was way smoother for me. The library is smaller though, so if you're only watching the big shonen stuff you might be disappointed. Ngl, I've pretty much given up on paying for anime streaming altogether because none of them seem to handle new episode drops. It's frustrating because you want to do the right thing but they're not giving you a good experience for your money.

I gotta push back on "given up on paying for anime streaming altogether." I've had a totally different experience with Crunchyroll, honestly. I've been on the basic plan for like four years now and I barely ever get buffering issues, even during big new episode nights. Maybe it's a regional thing or depends on your internet provider, but I watch weekly stuff like One Piece and new seasonals without much trouble. Yeah, the apps crash sometimes, but so do Netflix and Hulu in my experience. I just feel like if everyone bails on paying, we're gonna end up with even worse options down the road. What's the alternative, hoping the pirate sites stay free forever?
