Shoutout to the guy at my local anime meetup who said subs and dubs are both valid, and it actually helped me enjoy shows more
Last month at a small anime meetup in Denver, I overheard a guy say he watches dubs when he's folding laundry and subs when he's actually paying attention, and that mix made total sense to me. I'd been forcing myself to watch everything subbed for like 2 years because I thought that was the "real" way, but I'd end up pausing every 5 seconds and getting annoyed. So I tried his approach for 3 weeks, and I finished 4 more shows than I normally would in that time. For simple slice of life stuff, I put on the dub and just chill, but for anything with fast talking or dense lore, I go subbed. It's not about being a purist, it's about matching the show to your energy level. Anyone else switch back and forth depending on the series, or do you stick to one no matter what?
