Overheard two guys arguing about Goku vs Saitama at a bus stop and it got me thinking
I was waiting for the 43 bus downtown last Wednesday and these two dudes were going at it for like 15 minutes about who would win in a fight. One guy kept saying 'but Saitama breaks his limiter' and the other was yelling about Goku's instant transmission. It made me realize that half the time we debate anime powers we're just using made up rules that don't even match the shows. Has anyone else ever overheard a random stranger debate that actually made you question your own favorite character's strength?

My younger nephew and his friends used to argue about this exact thing all the time, and it got me thinking too. The real problem is that Goku and Saitama exist in completely different storytelling worlds, so comparing them is like asking if a superhero could beat a wizard. What helped me was just focusing on which character I enjoy watching more rather than trying to figure out who would actually win. At the end of the day, these debates are fun but nobody is ever going to agree because the shows themselves don't follow the same rules. Just let them have their argument and enjoy the bus ride home.

Exactly what I ended up doing with my own group. We had this whole thing going on and on until I just said "okay, who do you like watching more?" and that killed the debate pretty quick. The one kid who argued hardest for Saitama just admitted Goku's fights are more fun to watch for him and we moved on. Now we just roast each other over the dumbest stuff like who would win in a cooking contest instead. Gets way less heated and way more funny.
