My brother told me I was watching anime on 1.5x speed, and now I can't stop thinking about it
Last month my brother watched me get through 12 episodes of a show in one sitting and asked why the voices sounded "chipmunky." Turns out my laptop had been set to 1.5x speed for months and I never noticed, which started a whole fight between us. One side says speeding up a show is fine because you still get the story and you save time. The other side says you're wrecking the pacing, the music, and the whole reason the director cut it that way. I switched back to normal speed last week and honestly the slower scenes hit way harder, but now I'm behind on everything. Where do you all land on this?
Reminds me of when I bought a used car and the previous owner had set the radio to always skip the first 10 seconds of every song. Drove me nuts for a week until I found the setting buried in a menu somewhere. Point is, weird defaults sneak up on you, and you just get used to them without asking why. Same thing with speed settings, you get used to the chipmunk voices until someone points it out.
