Had a talk with my nephew that made me rethink the old stuff

My 16 year old nephew came over last week and saw my DVD collection of Cowboy Bebop and Ghost in the Shell. He asked why I don't just stream them, and I gave him the usual spiel about quality and extras. But then he pointed out that half those discs probably don't even work on modern players and I'm just holding onto plastic. It hit different because he wasn't wrong, I haven't played a single one in maybe 4 years. Has anyone else dealt with letting go of physical media from back when?

Yo same thing happened when my cousin asked about my dvd shelf. I realized I just liked having them there for the look but never touched em. It's kinda freeing to finally box em up.

Yeah, having them for the look is basically interior design at that point. I told my friend my bookshelf was a 'library' but really it's just a wall of things I grabbed at Goodwill for the color scheme. Feels good to admit you've been running a personal museum of stuff you'll never use again.
