Appreciation post: The anime con in Portland that changed how I talk about shows
I was at Kumoricon last year and got into a huge line debate about the ending of Attack on Titan. This one person broke down the themes so clearly that I stopped just saying if I liked or hated a show. Now I always try to talk about what the story was trying to do first. How do you guys handle talking about anime you didn't like?

Man, I used to be the worst about that before I realized my hot takes were mostly just me missing the point.

Watched my friend absolutely trash a whole season of a show once, saying it made no sense and the writing was terrible. Couple years later he rewatched it and was like oh wait I was just scrolling through my phone the whole time and missed all the important stuff. It's funny how easy it is to get halfway through something and not even realize you checked out. I mean sometimes I blame the show but really it was me being distracted or grumpy that day.
