Wired vs wireless sensors on a 3 story retrofit, wireless won in one day
I had a job last month in Portland where the client wanted sensors on all 18 windows across a 3 story house with brick exterior. My first estimate went wired because that's what I grew up doing, but the labor hours were getting nuts. Drilling through masonry and fishing lines through finished walls was gonna eat up 4 days and probably double the material cost. I switched to a wireless system with repeaters on each floor and finished the whole install in about 9 hours. The signal strength held up fine even with the thick walls, and the client actually preferred it since there was zero visible wiring. Anyone else made the jump on retrofit jobs, or do you still push wired when the house is already finished?
